Copper doesn't like to be ignored. It gets moody and dark when left in a jewelry box alone.
Like it shiny? Wear it. Take it for a night on the town with your favorite little black dress. (copper and black look amazing together!) Its the natural oils from your skin that keep it looking sparkly. Make your cuff your new summer staple, that you can even wear to the beach. Only those without patinas (beautiful colors), or etchings (drawings) though! You can even wear your copper pieces (again not the ones with patinas or etchings) in the hot tub or hot springs. The hot water and chemicals that keep the water clean for you, make your copper look polished again. Copper can be your go to assessory. Slap on a statement cuff or dangly earrings and you look instantly pulled together, and it will love you for it too.
The elements can also play a factor in your shade of copper.
These two cuffs made from the same piece of reclaimed copper, worn about 5 days a week for 10 years. Never polished, just worn. One lives at the ocean in the Northwest, the other lives in the Mountains in California. Both are shiny, but are two different shades of copper. Why? The air.
For those pieces with beautiful blues and greens (patinas), take care of them. Put them in an air tight ziplock before tossing them in your jewelry box or purse. Never wear them in the shower, or to the beach. The colors will fade if you damage the protective layer on top.
Did your copper jewelry come from Revive Tahoe? Need a "factory polish job" drop me a note. I don't recommend trying a "do it yourself" approach from off the internet. You can damage the finish and it won't come back.
For the love of copper, NEVER sleep in your jewelry!
